RBC InvestEase, an automated way to invest online, is one of many online investing tools available for consumers. The national launch in Canada took place in September of 2019 but it had not gained the customer base that it had hoped for. The Know Your Customer (KYC) process took on average 30mins to complete. This required the entire team (designers, product owners, business analysts) to scrutinize every step in KYC stream line the entire process.
The solution
The strategy to attract more clients was to utilize insights of our existing clients and to display insights when we found that they had extra money in their account. RBC would serve hints to clients to suggest using that extra money to open an InvestEase account. The mobile experience was the targeted platform as that was the overwhelming platform choice for RBC clients.
The KYC process was streamlined from 30mins to an astonishing 12mins.
